Courses will be as follows:

Prologue – 3 km

Sprint – 800 m and 1.4, km

Distance – 1.5 km (PN sit skiing), 5 km and 7.5 km

Eligibility

Participants, beyond the Midget category, residing in Canada are required to have a Cross Country Canada License or a Supporting Member Day License (SMDL) that can be purchased online when registering.

 

In addition, any contestant whose licenses CCC and/or SFQ has not been paid and activated as of February 9, 2011 will have to purchase a day license at a cost of $ 5 CAD per day to be allowed to start in competition. These rules will apply to all without exception.

 

Midget skiers who reside in Quebec must obtain a SFQ day license available online if they do not have already an annual licence.

 

All SMDL purchasers under 18 years old must have the release form signed by their parents or guardian. To do this, they must print the online registration form and fax it to the Race Secretary at 819-595-0080 or send it by email at skinouk@hotmail.com.

 

Para-Nordic guides must have a license issued by CCC or purchase online a SMDL.

 

Foreign skiers must have a FIS license, a license issued by their national federation or purchase online a SMDL.

 

Only FIS license holders are eligible for cash prizes.

 

To be eligible for U23 cash prizes, U23 skiers should check the U23 box in the online registration.

 

Racing up is accepted but not recommended. Racers who wish to race up will need to register in the higher category. Junior boys and girls who want to enroll in the open category must register as junior men and women.

 

Only skiers registered in the Open category for the three events are eligible to compete in the prologue on Friday. 

 

Skiers residing in Ontario must have a racing license issued by CCC to receive Ontario Cup points

 

University athletes participating in the Ontario Universities Qualifiers must enter their University when registering on-line and check the UNV box.

 

Skiers residing in Quebec must have a racing license issued by SFQ to receive Quebec Cup points.

 

University athletes participating in the Quebec Universities Series must comply with paragraphs 1.1 and 1.2 of Règlements officiels de la Coupe Québec (French only).

 

Only skiers and clubs in NCD and Outaouais can receive NCD championship points.

 

Registration

Only online registrations on zone4.ca are accepted. Registrations can be made on or after January 19, 2011.


Registration fees per race are $ 45 CAD for each event of the open category ($ 125 CAD for the three races) juvenile and junior boys and girls ($ 85 CAD for two races) and $ 35 CAD for the midget

($ 65 CAD for both races).

 

Registration fees include access to the trails on February 10 to 13 (regular rates apply for access to the trails the other days), light snack on February 11, 12 and 13, and CCO ($5) and SFQ ($5) license fees.

 

Registration fees are payable with the online registration. The Zone 4 service fees are extra.

           

The deadline for registration is Monday, February 7, 2011, at 23:59. Any late entries on February 8 will attract additional charges of $ 50 CAD per race.

 

Entries received can be received on February 9 and 10 at the coaches' meetings only and are subject to approval by the jury and will cost $ 100 CAD additional per race.

 

Skiers who are members of the National Ski Team, a national training centre, a university or a factory team, must register as their club and their team. Other skiers must include the name of their club as per  the Cross Country Canada database.

 

All skiers must register their SFQ, CCC and FIS license number, or of another national federation or to obtain a SMDL, otherwise the form will not be validated.

 

In case of cancellation of the event, the OC will retain a part of registration fees per person per race to cover expenses already incurred for organizing the event.

 

Draw  
For races of the Open category, the CPL distance and sprint lists will be used. The lists used will be published on February 1, 2011 on the CCC website. The start list for the handicap race will be determined by the standings after the first two races.

The seeding for the Open category will be done in accordance with the
Canadian Multi-stage Event Guidelines.


The bib allocation for juvenile and junior boys and girls will be made according to the 2010-11 Haywood NorAm and Teck Sprint Series Technical Package, paragraphs 6.9.

 

For Midget categories for both races, coaches are requested to place their athletes in the groups 1, 2 or 3 (maximum two in groups 1 and 2) by email to the Race Secretary at skinouk@hotmail.com on February 9, 2011 at the latest. The groups will be formed as per rule 333.3.

 

Competitors and coaches are encouraged to consult the list of registrants and the CPL on the Easterns website from Monday, January 24, 2011 and communicate any changes to the Race Secretary no later than Wednesday, February 9, 2011, at 6 p.m..

The electronic draw will take place on Zone 4 at the coaches' meeting.

The order and start lists will be posted on the Easterns website and on
 Zone 4 website the night before the race.

 

Timing           

Timing will be done with Summit Systems and Zone 4 race management software.

 

Results will be posted on  Zone 4 website at the end of each race.

 

Coaches' Meetings
The first coaches' meeting will be held on February 10, at 4 p.m. in the Ski Barn. Following meetings (see schedule above) will be confirmed at this meeting.

 

Competition Jury
The competition jury will consist of the chief of competition, the technical delegate and the CCC Race Director.

 

Protest
A payment of $ 50 CAD will be required for each protest lodged. The amount will be retained by the Organizing Committee in the event of a rejection.

The coach may file a protest until 15 minutes after the posting of unofficial results for each category. The jury must render a decision as soon as possible after the end of the competitions of the day.

 

Training
The training periods are specified in the schedule above.

Skiers should ski courses in the direction of the race course and in the specified times. Skiers who do not respect the training guidelines will receive a verbal warning. The second warning will result in a written sanction
.

 

Waxing
The organizing committee will provide teams a heated and lit building for waxing. Space is limited. Teams are encouraged to bring their tents and generators, as outdoor spaces will be made available.  If you're planning on bringing tents please let the race secretary know to facilitate allocation of space.

 

Bib Distribution
The bib distribution is made as per times shown above in the Ski Barn.

Postings
The bulletin boards will be located at the exit of the Ski Barn and in the spectators area of the stadium.

The unofficial results will be posted 20 minutes after the end of the race. The official results will be posted once the jury has approved them.

 

Awards
Eastern Championships medals are awarded to first three finishers of all classes of all individual events.

Money awards for individual stage races and the overall Multi-stage Tour will be given to athletes in the Open category provided they hold a valid FIS license. The breakdown is in accordance with the 2010-11 Haywood NorAm and Teck Sprint Series Technical Package.

 

Medals and money awards ceremonies will take place on site, 20 minutes after the end of the category (based on unofficial results).

Contingency Measures
In case of lack of snow or force majeure to the main site the jury may decide to move the race to the Gatineau Park, at Relais plein air du parc de la Gatineau. All the information regarding the change of site, if necessary, will be announced on February 4, 2011 on the
Easterns website.

There is no running drinkable water at the site. Athletes must bring their own water and any other rehydration fluids.
